These Rules are effective from January 1st 2006

Over 18 OPEN events are open to amateurs and professionals. ORGANISERS ARE REQUESTED TO USE SIMILAR AGE SPLITS BUT ARE FREE TO CHANGE AGE RANGES AS THEY DEEM FIT.
2. GRADES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS RUN UNDER SDI RULES. Rules apply to

SOLOS, PAIRS GROUPS & TEAMS. DANCERS MAY ONLY DANCE IN ONE GRADE AT ANY COMPETITION. In Solos and Pairs events no status are lost when there are 6 entries or less in an event.
a) FIRST TIMERS EVENTS... OPEN TO ALL DANCERS THAT HAVE NEVER DANCED IN ANY DANCE COMPETITION BEFORE (whether run under SDI rules or any other rules or event). Dancers are permitted to dance in First Timers a maximum of 6 times, but upon achieving 3 finals or winning a FIRST TIMERS event they will automatically move up to the CLOSED EVENTS section.
b) CLOSED EVENTS ... OPEN TO ALL COMPETITORS THAT HAVE ONLY EVER DANCED IN FIRST TIMERS EVENTS AND THE FOLLOWING DANCERS. This grade is only open to dancers who have not made a final of an OPEN Streetdance event .... i.e. at an SDI rules Streetdance competition OPEN event or at a FREESTYLE event when there is a Streetdance competition. Dancers may remain competing in the CLOSED event section until they win a CLOSED event, or finish in first three on three occasions or alternatively make the final of an open competition, when they will automatically move up to OPEN events .
c) OPEN EVENTS ... OPEN TO ALL COMPETITORS.
3. TEAMS & GROUPS ... A group may consist of any number of dancers from 5 to 7 and may dance for a maximum time of 90 seconds (Open groups 2 minutes). A team may consist of a minimum of 8 dancers and a maximum of 24 and may dance up to two minutes (two and a half minutes Open teams). Promoters may choose to organise either or both Teams & Groups events and dancers are permitted to dance in both events. However as team and group events take a considerable time promoters may request dancers to dance in only one event, if this is the case it must be stated in programme sent to teacher. Status is not lost if there are less than three in an event.
4. COSTUME RESTRICTIONS
a) Competitors are free to wear any outfit they wish but items must have been purchased as a ready to wear item. NO purpose made or hand made costumes are allowed.
b) NO additional trimmings, sequins and diamantes are allowed.
c) All dancers must wear suitable footwear to be securely fastened.
5. DANCE RESTRICTIONS Dancers are not allowed to run, skip or travel round the floor and that any movements off the spot must be danced with a hip hop or street action. Dancers are not restricted from performing any move but they must be aware that it is their own responsibility to ensure that they do not perform dangerous moves that could injure themselves or others. PROMOTORS have the right to bring in safety restrictions.
