THE ALL ENGLAND STREETDANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was with great excitement Julie Burns & I arrived at the O2 to help at this amazing event, dancers from all over the country’s qualifying heats were gathering here to win a place to represent ENGLAND in the IDO WORLD & EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Judging the event were well respected dancers and choreographers from the street/hip hop world at the top of their business, KENRICK SANDY of Boy Blue, Eugene ‘Simmz’ Drummond from Peridot, TURBO most recently known for his appearance on Sky’s Got To Dance, GAME form Streetdance 3D & currently appearing in Thriller, GILLY from Trilogy, & special guests Suzanne Gates & Nikki Wilkes.
Dancers of all ages & cultures filled the seats & backstage holding area, eagerly awaiting their chance to shine & perform on that fantastic stage a once in a lifetime opportunity for some.
The event was opened by the Schwartzkopf’s new crew 'Atti2ude' choreographed by Sisco Gomez’ then it was up to England’s own soloists to show what they had!!
Before teams we were treated to a very cute team of under 6 dancers trained by Tracy Rigby and also her parents team showed us what they can do!
Back stage in the holding area I loved the effort, energy & camaraderie shown by the groups & teams-not just to their own crews but with each-other, costumes were well thought out & effective - the routines were slick & polished, a real credit to their trainers for all the hard work, they did you proud!!
The day’s events finished with the electric boogie solos & pairs which is the street style to look out for, especially since England in the past has rocked in this field of dance at both the IDO Championships!!
A long but very enjoyable day had by all-please keep practicing winners & qualifiers-you will be representing your country in DENMARK-1ST-3RD JULY(EURO'S) & 12TH-16TH OCTOBER(WORLDS).
