Newsletter – World Hip Hop Championships, Bremen, Germany.

Well we are all back and recovered from the fantastic week at The World Hip Hop Championships in Germany. For all of you that went I’m sure you will agree that it was mind- blowing experience. It was lovely to see all of the England Team as one, supporting each other and having lots of fun away from the competition.
It was great to see Marlon as a guest judge as “Flawless” won last year. He also taught a Master-class out there, which was enjoyable for all that took part. We are looking forward to his workshop in Oxford in November.
England had four finalists - Sarah from Goodman’s in the Adult girls Solos came 2nd with her great personality, flexibility and overall fantastic dancing. Kenrick also came 2nd in the Adult Boys with his amazing character and his big presence. In the Adult Team Category, “Unity” came home with 5th place when they wowed the crowd with their tricks and interpretation of music. In the Small Groups Category “Furious” from Kelly Chandlers took 6th place with their originality and energy.
Although these were the finalists, all the dancers were outstanding, with many dancers only just missing out on making the finals. So a huge well done to all that took part.
The SDI worked extremely hard organising the qualifying heats, the Finals in Croydon and making the whole experience in Germany one to remember.
We would like to say a special thank you to Heather Francis for all the hard work she did preparing for our time in Germany, as she was unable to go due to being pregnant. Thanks to Jane Hollis for the support and help while in Germany. To all the schools and teachers that took part and special thank you to Derek Povey, President of SDI for making it all possible. Looking forward to next year.
